As much as the Rockets have juggled their lineups and center rotation since the injury to Clint Capela, they have not been able to replace the rim-running production and threat from that part of their offense. The addition of Kenneth Faried, who will sign a free agent contract with the Rockets after he clears waivers, could change that. He has a long history as a pick-and-roll threat, including on the 2014 USA Basketball team with James Harden.
Though the Rockets could not specifically discuss Faried until the deal is complete, Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni nearly described him when citing the qualities the Rockets have missed with Capela out and the skills needed to fill that void.
