As Rockets player development coach John Lucas made his way around the Staples Center visiting lockerroom, offering encouragement following the Rockets opening night 120-114 loss to the Lakers on Wednesday, he mentioned to James Harden that Harden had joined him in the Rockets' record book.
Harden, who had matched Lucas' record of 14 assists in a half, was not ready to enjoy the accomplishment.
"Luke had mentioned it to me, but we had just lost. I wasn't tripping about that," Harden said. "I just want to be able to create for my teammates, play well night in and night out and do my job at a high level.
