Rockets' Eric Gordon to begin season as starter, but is open to either role

The Rockets have options at small forward they did not at the start of last season with the return of Danuel House Jr. and addition of Thabo Sefolosha, but Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni said he envisions starting the season with the same starting lineup that ended last season.

“Eric (Gordon) right now is a starter and should be,” D’Antoni said.

Gordon said D’Antoni had already told him of that plan, but he has no issues with returning to his role as Sixth Man.

“I’m here to do whatever it takes to win,” Gordon said. “From Day 1 I sacrificed to come off the bench to see how good we can be.
