Houston Rockets draftee Sergio Llull suffered an ACL rupture in his right knee, his Liga ACB team Real Madrid confirmed in a statement Thursday.
The two-way guard is expected to be sidelined for seven to nine months and miss the entirety of the EuroLeague season, according to a tweet by by David Pick.
Llull, whose draft rights were bought from the Denver Nuggets in 2009, sustained the injury during the first quarter of an exhibition between Spain and Belgium.
Regarded as one of the best international talents not in the NBA, the 29-year-old Spaniard has won four Spanish League titles with Real Madrid since joining in 2007, and earned 2017 EuroLeague MVP honors after averaging 16.
