Reed Sheppard rarely received the opportunity to light up the scoreboard in scant minutes with the Houston Rockets this season. Houston's latest lottery rookie took advantage of his new starring role during Tuesday's G League debut in Rio Grande Valley.
Sheppard, who the Rockets selected with the No. 3 pick in the 2024 NBA draft, poured in 49 points and banged home eight threes in Tuesday's 130-125 loss to the Oklahoma City Blue. Sheppard's Houston teammates weren't able to watch the performance as they were busy dispatching the Washington Wizards in the nation's capital.
