The Rockets began filling out their summer league roster in the hours after Thursday’s draft ended without them making a pick, picking up a pair of high-scoring, if undersized guards, and one of the longest centers in the draft.
The Rockets reached agreements with Shamorie Ponds, a two-time All Big East selection with St. John’s, and Chris Clemens, who became the third all-time leading scorer in NCAA men’s basketball history with Campbell. Clemens averaged 30.1 points per game as a senior last season. Ponds averaged 19.7.
While reaching agreements with the 6-1 Ponds and 5-9 Clemens, the Rockets, the Rockets also reached agreement with 7-1 UCLA center Moses Brown, who declared for the draft at just 19 after one season with the Bruins.
