Amen Thompson has emerged as one of the NBA's most improved players and one of the Houston Rockets' most essential pieces in recent months. Houston's second-year guard saw his professional progress halted Saturday night.

Thompson, 22, suffered an ankle injury in the fourth quarter of a 146-117 win over the New Orleans Pelicans, as Houston's ace defender and secondary point guard was seen postgame exiting Toyota Center while walking on crutches. The Rockets avoided disaster regarding Thompson's hurt ankle Sunday night. Thompson will miss 10 to 14 days with a left ankle sprain, and Thompson did not suffer any "structural damage," Saturday night, per ESPN's Shams Charania.
