Rockets assistant Brett Gunning knew Villanova's play would work

Before Villanova inbounded to begin the championship-winning play that will never be forgotten, Rockets assistant Brett Gunning turned to his wife and said, "It's over."

Gunning had spent the bulk of his career working for Villanova coach Jay Wright, going with Wright from Villanova to UNLV to Hofstra (where he was an assistant under Wright for seven years) to back at Villanova (for another seven years). When the Wildcats faced North Carolina for the national title on Monday at NRG Stadium, Gunning was with Wright's family behind the Villanova bench.

"There's an end-of-game play Jay has run from his first year in coaching," Gunning said.
