Alperen u015eengün's third NBA season likely ended in ugly fashion Monday as he suffered a leg injury in Sacramento. u015eengün's disappointment should fade this summer.
The Houston Rockets center is eligible for a contract extension following the 2023-24 season, and per The Athletic's Shams Charania, u015eengün is on track to receive quite the hefty payday.
"When you look into the offseason, [u015eengün] will be eligible for a five-year, $225 million max contract," Charania said. "Alperen u015eengün has put himself in that category of being a max contract player."
The $225 million figure may be jarring, especially considering u015eengün has yet to register an All-Star appearance in his brief career.
