A well-known figure in the Houston sports scene is reportedly in the mix to purchase an NFL franchise.
According to a report from the Washington Post, Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta has submitted a bid to buy the Washington Commanders. Josh Harris—who owns the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL's New Jersey Devils—and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos were noted as other prospective buyers, though The Athletic reported Saturday that Bezos "is being barred from bidding" on the team. Bezos owns the Washington Post, which documented various cultural issues—including sexual harassment—in stories that increased pressure for Commanders owner Daniel Snyder to sell the team.
