The Rockets are in clear rebuild mode, yet they were unable to make any big moves at the trade deadline, holding on to veterans that may have enticed contending teams.
The Rockets (15-39), who have the third-worst record in the league and only are contending for the best possible odds in May's NBA Draft Lottery, did make one trade, moving rarely used backup center Daniel Theis to the Celtics for Dennis Schröder, Enes Freedom and Bruno Fernando. The Rockets waived Freedom - formerly Enes Kanter - immediately after the trade, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Rockets signed Theis to a four-year, $35 million contract in the offseason, but the big man had been phased out of the rotation recently.
