NEW YORK - The NBA is ready to take action on "Hack-a-Shaq," or "off-the-ball delivered fouls" in the league's official parlance.
"It's not unanimous but we need to address it," commissioner Adam Silver said on Thursday.
What the changes in the rule will be remain to be seen, NBA vice president Kiki Vandeweghe said.
It takes a two-thirds vote of the NBA's Board of Governors to change the rule.
Vandeweghe said 420 off-the-ball fouls were called last season, more than the combined total of the previous two seasons. Also, 50 percent of the calls come in the first three quarters.
