The NBA announced Thursday an agreement between the league and the Players' Association that will cut the moratorium for free agents from 10 days to five, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.
The new moratorium will be from July 1 to July 6 with players able to sign contracts on the 6th. Last summer, the moratorium lasted seven days. It was on July 8 of last year that DeAndre Jordan spurned the Dallas Mavericks in a week-long free-agency saga that motivated the league's move to shorten the free-agency period.
Jordan was courted by members of the Dallas Mavericks in both Houston and Los Angeles, and Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was convinced Jordan would sign with his team, only to be spurned at the moment of truth.
