The NBA denied the Rockets’ protest of last week’s double-overtime loss to the Spurs, determining that while the officials erred in not counting a James Harden dunk with 7:50 left in the fourth quarter, the Rockets could have overcome the mistake in the remaining of the game.
“While agreeing that the referees misapplied the rules, Commissioner (Adam) Silver determined that the Rockets had sufficient time to overcome the error during the remainder of the fourth quarter and two subsequent overtime periods and thus the extraordinary remedy of granting a game protest was not warranted,” the NBA stated in a release.
