When Mary Lou Retton got the call from the Rockets that they wanted her to shoot the ceremonial First Shot before Saturday's Game 3 of the Rockets-Warriors series, she thought she had bad news for them.
She's in recovery from her fourth rotator cuff surgery and her right arm still is in a sling from the surgery she had two months ago.
"I told them I'm in a sling, they said, 'It's OK, come anyway," the 51-year-old Retton said.
Retton, who won the women's all-round gymnastics gold medal at the 1984 Olympics to become the first American woman to do so, was forced to shoot the free throw granny style.
