If you want a “Coaching and competent management are valuable.” argument, look no further than the New York Knicks.
Some might say the game had passed Tom Thibodeau by, but he was the only coach to take the woeful Timberwolves to the playoffs in recent decades. Now he’s at the helm in New York, and after a long spell of futility, some of it spectacular, the Knicks will appear in the post-season.
It’s not as though their roster got a giant upgrade, it’s the same strange collection of players it’s been for the past few season.
