The Rockets' 1994 NBA championship and O.J. Simpson are inextricably linked.
That's because, while the Rockets were battling the Knicks in Game 5 at Madison Square Garden with the series lead up for grabs, Simpson and pal Al "A.C." Cowlings took off in their infamous white Ford Bronco on the Los Angeles freeways with the L.A. police in pursuit.
It was one of the more surreal moments in recent American history, and was carried live on network TV back then. NBC, which carried the NBA Finals, was no exception, relegating the massively important Knicks/Rockets game to a box in the corner.
