James Ennis III, who played 40 games with the Rockets before he was dealt to the Sixers at the trade deadline, had played in seven games with Philadelphia, competing with Jonathon Simmons who was also acquired that day for a place in the rotation.
Ennis had not played in three of four games before playing 17 minutes off the bench in Chicago on Wednesday. Going into Friday's game, he had averaged 3.6 points on 37 percent shooting with Philadelphia.
"Jonathon Simmons and James are kind of in a tournament," 76ers coach Brett Brown said. "One of those two I believe will emerge to be a playoff rotation player.
