LeBron James turned in a brilliant 51-point performance in a game Golden State managed to win anyway, but all anyone is going to remember from the Warriors' 124-114 overtime win in Game 1 of the NBA Finals is going to be J.R. Smith.
The Cavaliers guard made one of the biggest bonehead mistakes on the NBA's biggest stage. With the game tied with 4.7 seconds left, Cleveland's George Hill missed a free throw, but somehow Smith managed to outbattle Golden State's Kevin Durant for the rebound.
Instead of going back up for a potential game-winning shot, Smith dribbled the ball back to halfcourt, appearing to think the Cavs had the lead.
