Not only is today Thanksgiving Day, but it’s also the birthday of current Orlando Magic assistant coach Mario Elie.
For Rockets fans, you may remember Elie as a solid role player on those Rockets championship teams back in the early 1990’s. Elie spent five seasons in Houston, mainly coming off the bench.
Elie’s biggest moment had to come 20 years ago, when Elie hit what has been dubbed the “Kiss of Death” against the Phoenix Suns in Game 7 of the 1995 Western Conference semifinals.
That three-point dagger all but sealed the deal, allowing the Rockets to advance to the conference finals and ultimately bring home their second of back-to-back titles.
