Garrison Mathews gets 'MVP' chants from Rockets fans, even with James Harden in town

Chants of "M-V-P!" are nothing new when James Harden is in Toyota Center. This time though, he had to sit back and listen to the chants lovingly being thrown down upon Garrison Mathews of all people.

Mathews, who was cut by the Boston Celtics at the end of training camp, has only been with the Rockets for three weeks, but he's already turned himself into a fan favorite. In the fourth quarter of Wednesday's 114-104 win over Harden and the Nets, Mathews turned himself into a Rockets folk hero.

Mathews, who finished with 19 points, scored nine in the game's final six minutes helping take back the momentum from the Nets who had cut a 15-point Rockets fourth-quarter lead to just four before the 25-year-old turned it on.
