Former Rockets guard Mike Newlin was honored during the team's home opener on Sunday as part of the Rockets' season-long 50th anniversary celebration.
"Being in Houston, you're never not a Rocket," Newlin said. "Even if you're not acknowledged, you're still a Rocket. To have them acknowledge it maintains continuity and is fun to be a part of. It's a circular argument. I can't get away and I don't want to get away. It's kind of nice."
Former players will do an autograph signing before the games on the concourse level. A book about the history of Rockets basketball is available at Toyota Center and online in December.
