Taking time out to sit with the two analysts Daryl Morey offered some insight into the Houston Rockets moves thus far in the off season. Some of the top lines discussed were:
- Hiring of coach Mike D’Antoni
- Morey cites the up tempo system the Rockets prefer to run and D’Antoni being the perfect fit given he was the architect of that approach
- Feels D’Antoni fits them philosophically
- James Harden‘s extension and the importance of locking him in
- Addition of Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson
- Morey seems to feel injuries have hurt Gordon more on defense and feels Anderson is a strong defensive rebounder
- Morey indicates Patrick Beverley will be starting point guard with Gordon coming off bench
- Cellini asked about Harden’s comments re: “we aren’t a Super Team”
- Morey said Harden meant they will be more of a blue collar team
- Anthony asked if he was surprised Kevin Durant signed with the Warriors
- Though he doesn’t come right out and say he was surprised he does indicate it wasn’t expected.
