Craig Sager, whose colorful on-camera attire as an NBA sideline reporter reflected an upbeat, determined outlook on life that carried him through three stem cell transplants during a 32-month battle against acute myeloid leukemia, died Thursday. He was 65.
Sager's death was announced by his colleagues at Turner Sports, where he spent most of his more than 40 years in sports television. He had undergone treatment at M.D. Anderson Cancer in Houston since May 2015 and was allowed to return home to Atlanta shortly before Thanksgiving.
"There will never be another Craig Sager," said Turner Sports president David Levy.
