The Rockets on Thursday were close to signing guard Chris Clemons to a three-year deal, Clemons’ agent John Spencer of 540 Sports and JSK Sports said.
Clemons has exhausted his allotment of 45 NBA days on his two-way contract, but the Rockets had been in communication with Spencer throughout the season with the intention of converting Clemons’ contract to a standard NBA deal. There remained details to be completed involving guarantee dates, Spencer said.
Clemons, the third-leading scorer in NCAA men’s basketball history when he played at Campbell, played for the Rockets' summer league team as an undrafted free agent, earning an invitation to training camp.
