The Cleveland Cavaliers announced a one-game suspension of guard J.R. Smith shortly before their Thursday night game against the 76ers. According to reports by ESPN's Brian Windhorst and Dave McMenamin, the suspension was a result of Smith throwing a bowl of soup at Cavaliers assistant coach Damon Jones.
The 41-year-old Jones, who played at Galveston Ball High School, spent three years at the University of Houston before leaving early to declare for the 1997 NBA Draft.
He went undrafted but went on to play 11 seasons in the NBA with 10 different teams. He had his bester year in 2004-05 with Miami where he averaged 11.
