DENVER – Though the Rockets continued to list Carmelo Anthony as out with an illness, no one at Tuesday’s shootaround felt the need to look around to see if he was feeling better, and not just because Anthony did not make the trip to Denver where Anthony’s 16-season NBA career began.
The Rockets have not announced any plans to waive Anthony, with general manager Daryl Morey on Sunday saying he thought Anthony could return when healthy. But with no expectation that Anthony will play for the Rockets again, players and coaches said uncertainty is not a distraction.
“You’d have to talk to Daryl about it and we’ll deal with whatever,” Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni said.
