Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard is officially listed as questionable for Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals with a sprained left knee after a MRI revealed the extent of the injury on Wednesday.
Howard got hurt in the first quarter of Tuesday's four-point loss to the Golden State Warriors when teammate Josh Smith fell into his leg after attempting a shot. Howard returned to the game, only played a total of 26 minutes.
"It's very sore, it started during the game," Howard said after Wednesday's practice. "It's another test. It was very painful to play last night and coach just felt like it was best that I sit out the rest of the game but there was nothing I could do."
If Howard doesn't play in Game 2, rookie Clint Capela will start at center.
"We'll play other people, we won't play four on five, I promise you," head coach Kevin McHale said. "We'll deal with that tomorrow, I'm not going to speculate, we'll see how Dwight feels tomorrow and we'll adjust accordingly."
