Houston came out of the gates on fire and built a double-digit lead in the first quarter, but Dallas was able to cut into the lead in the second, yet still trailed 56-50 at the half. The Rockets started the second half with another big run and pushed the lead back up to double digits, then held off a late Mavs rally to clinch the series.

Dallas managed to cut Houston's lead to one in the third quarter, but the Rockets responded with a 16-4 run to retake control of the game.

The Rockets won this game because of their ability to control the paint. They outscored the Mavs 52-36 in the lane, and outrebounded them 53-47.
Houston MVP:
James Harden (28 points, eight assists) and Dwight Howard (18 points, 19 rebounds) played like the superstars they are, while Josh Smith (20 points, eight rebounds) provided a huge boost off the bench again.
Dallas MVP:
Monta Ellis did everything he could to carry the Mavs on the offense end, scoring 25 points while dishing out seven assists.
