It seems that much of what was discussed by Dwight Howard in Sunday night's meeting with the Houston Rockets was about the future of the franchise and the possibility of multiple titles being won there, which is a promising thing to hear. That is the basis of the Rockets' pitch to Howard, as Houston leadership believes they are the clear-cut best bet for Howard if he wants to win titles. They explained the pieces they have and talked about the free agents they are targeting to build around Howard, not to go after should Howard not sign.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Howard asked general manager Daryl Morey how the Rockets were set up to be able to offer an additional maximum contract to a free agent. James Harden is already signed to a max deal with Houston, and if Howard signs that would be two. So Howard is asking if the Rockets could hold three max contracts on their roster, like the Miami Heat have.
It's possible that Howard didn't know Harden had a max deal, but that is very doubtful. The three max contracts have obviously worked in Miami, but that's probably more of a function of one LeBron James more than anything else. And dominant as Howard can be, he's no LeBron. Hopefully Howard was just wondering about the possibility of this, rather than it being something he actually wants.
