U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati refuses to resign after World Cup failure

Three days after watching the U.S. men's national team crash and burn in unprecedented fashion and subsequently fail to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, U.S. Soccer Federation president Sunil Gulati said he understood why fans are frustrated.

That does not mean Gulati believes it is time for somebody else to do his job.

Even though he was the one who oversaw the disaster that culminated with Tuesday's loss to lowly Trinidad & Tobago, Gulati said he does not plan to resign. He even said he may run for re-election in four months citing all the good things he has done off the field as worthy reasons.
