In a game of 90 minutes, a friendly between the United States and Chile was resolved in the first 10. The sides tied 1-1 at BBVA Compass Stadium on Tuesday.
American midfielder Christian Pulisic made his impact just four minutes into the match when forward Gyasi Zardes flipped goalkeeper Ethan Horvath’s outlet pass into a chance for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.
Zardes took control of the ball just past midfield and flicked it ahead to Pulisic, who used his first touch to chip the ball over the head of the charging Chilean keeper Gabriel Arias.
Pulisic tumbled to the turf, the ball bounced into the back corner of the net and many of the 18,033 fans in attendance began jumping and waving their arms to celebrate the surprisingly early lead against FIFA’s 13th-ranked country.
