In May, United States U-20 head coach Tabare "Tab" Ramos told MLS Soccer that he hoped to be the head coach of an MLS team.
Ramos will be the new coach of the Houston Dynamo, a person with knowledge of the hire said.

He will replace interim coach Davy Arnaud, who took over for former coach Wilmer Cabrera in August.
Ramos, 53, was born in Uruguay and raised in New Jersey, the state where he founded a youth club (New Jersey Soccer Academy 04) in 2004.
