The Houston Dynamo defeated C.D. Guastatoya 2-1 at BBVA Compass Stadium on Tuesday night in the second leg of their Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Round of 16 series. The victory gave Houston a 3-1 win on aggregate to advance to the quarterfinals, where they will face Tigres UANL.
Guastatoya struck first to level the series at 1-1 as Aaron Navarro finished an assist from Isaac Acuña in the 72nd minute. However, second half substitutes Alberth Elis and Mauro Manotas proved to be the difference on the night with an immediate response.
Elis sprinted forward in the 77th minute, beating two defenders before curling an early, low cross into the box.
