Two years ago Memo Rodriguez was on the fast track to MLS. As the 2017 preseason marches on, however, the 21-year-old is just hoping to get back on the right track.
The Dynamo signed Rodriguez to a Homegrown contract in December 2014 and immediately loaned him to USL club Charleston Battery for the 2015 season. That is where things got iffy.
Rodriguez scored his first professional goal but struggled to get consistent playing time. In February 2016, the Dynamo released Rodriguez from his first team contract and signed him to a USL contract so he could play with Rio Grande Valley FC in its inaugural season as the Dynamo's affiliate.
