Hurricane Harvey hit close to home for Dynamo’s Memo Rodriguez

Compared to those of most of his Dynamo teammates, Memo Rodriguez's hometown is as close as it gets to Houston.

During Hurricane Harvey, however, it felt further away than ever.

Rodriguez grew up in El Campo, just 45-minute drive down US-59. It is so close to Houston that it was heavily impacted by Harvey, but Rodriguez couldn't do anything to help his family.

Ten minutes away from El Campo, the Colorado River flooded Wharton. Low-lying areas in El Campo were in a mandatory evacuation zone. Rodriguez's family wasn't in one of those zones, but it was close enough for Rodriguez to worry while he rode out the storm in Houston.
