Tuesday, the Houston Dynamo announced that they had traded Sheanon Williams to the Vancouver Whitecaps in exchange for General Allocation Money. The amount of GAM in the traded was not announced. The defender had been left unprotected by the Dynamo during the MLS Expansion Draft.
“We’d like to thank Sheanon for his contributions during his time in Houston and wish him well moving forward,” said Dynamo Vice President and General Manager Matt Jordan in the team release.
Each team receives a certain about of GAM each year which can be used to “buy-down” a player’s salary. Teams can trade GAM.
