Honduras midfielder Luis Garrido suffered a horror injury against Mexico on in Tuesday's World Cup qualifier in Estadio Olimpico and is set to be out for around one year.
Videos of the shocking injury -- in which Garrido's leg cruelly contorts and bends in the opposite direction -- swept social networks and players from both sides immediately called medical staff onto the field.
"Garrido suffered a dislocation [of his right knee] and damaged four ligaments," Honduras' team doctor Oscar Benitez told Diez.
The 25-year-old Garrido had been playing in MLS for Houston Dynamo and is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
