Dwayne DeRosario watched from afar five weeks ago as Hurricane Harvey hammered Houston.
The former Dynamo midfielder had a difficult time fathoming just how much damage was being done by the unprecedented storm.
The city DeRosario used to call home was unrecognizable from what he remembered when he left almost decade ago.
“It’s devastating,” DeRosario said on Thursday morning. “I couldn’t believe that was Houston. It was hard to see.”
DeRosario and other former Dynamo players have returned to Houston this week for Thursday night’s BBVA Compass Dynamo Charities Cup.
Tonight, at BBVA Compass Stadium, they’ll form a Dynamo legends team and face a legends team organized by Univision Deportes for a small-sided game ahead of the Dynamo’s friendly against Mexican club Cruz Azul.
