Erick "Cubo" Torres' first goal for the Houston Dynamo was a little bit different than most of his career: directly from a free kick, 20 yards from goal.
"That’s something that people haven’t seen me do a lot, but I try to practice them as well," Torres said after the 2-1 win over Seattle Sounders FC. "I try to analyze what my teammates do on free kicks."
On this particular kick, he took his inspiration from an old teammate from Chivas Guadalajara.
"I saw it was an area where I have seen one of my ex-teammates in Mexico, Raul Lopez, who usually goes to that area and seeks the goalkeeper's post; I remembered that it always works for him," Torres said.
