MLSsoccer.com's Will Parchman named his five breakout players of 2017, and firmly in that list was Houston Dynamo striker Erick Torres.
Torres initially "broke out" in 2013, when he joined Chivas USA midseason on loan from Chivas Guadalajara. He immediately caught fire, scoring in his first two games, finishing the season with seven goals from just 15 games. He followed it up with a 15 goal season in 29 games in 2014.
Then, joining the Dynamo following the dissolution of Chivas USA following the 2014 season, he signed with the Dynamo and – after a loan spell back in Guadalajara – failed to score for the next year and half in MLS play.
