In his teenage years, new Dynamo acquisition Tomás Martínez received interest from European heavyweights Arsenal and FC Barcelona. Eventually, he played in Argentina, Spain and Portugal.
Despite great promise, he never found the level of success he hoped for. Now 22 years old, Martínez has arrived in Houston with another chance to make it work.
"It's an important moment in my career. I want to grow here," Martínez said in a video released by the Dynamo. "It's crucial and wonderful to be able to play for the Dynamo. I'm thankful for this moment.
