The Dynamo will play Saturday's season opener against Seattle Sounders FC without an important offseason acquisition.
Juan David Cabezas will serve a one-game suspension from FIFA for being cautioned twice in his final appearance with Independiente Medellin last year in Colombia.
In the second leg of a playoff match against Santa Fe on Dec. 3, Cabezas picked up yellow cards in the 59th and 65thminutes and was sent off. Per FIFA rules it does not matter that his previous game was in a different league. Cabezas still must miss his next match.
Cabezas is owned by Colombian club Deportivo Cali.
