Dynamo's George Malki tears ACL, will miss rest of season

One of the Dynamo's newest players will not get a chance to prove himself on the pitch this season.

Defender George Malki tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during a training session. After surgery, the club expects him to miss the rest of the season.

Malki signed an MLS contract last month after spending the 2016 season with the Dynamo's USL affiliate Rio Grande Valley FC. He played 25 games at fullback and helped the team build a league-record streak for shutouts.

He did not make the game day roster of any of the Dynamo's first three games and was likely to play at least a few games with RGV FC throughout the regular season before getting an opportunity to play in an MLS game.
