After player physicals were complete on Monday, new Dynamo midfielder Arturo Alvarez had lunch by himself and let it sink in that he is back with his hometown team – something that was not possible when he graduated from Katy’s Mayde Creek High School in the early 2000s.
Alvarez was drafted by the San Jose Earthquakes in 2003 and traded to FC Dallas before the 2005 season – the last one before the Earthquakes moved to Houston and became the Dynamo. In an ironic twist, FC Dallas traded Alvarez back to San Jose in 2008.
He finally landed with the Dynamo in December when the Dynamo acquired him from the Chicago Fire in exchange for a 2019 second-round draft pick.
