The Dynamo have acquired targeted allocation money in exchange for defender Kofi Sarkodie in a sign-and-trade with San Jose.
Sarkodie's contract expired at the end of the 2015 season. The Dynamo offered him a new contract in the offseason, which gave the club his rights. Sarkodie was eligible for the re-entry draft but opted out.
Selected seventh overall in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft, Sarkodie appeared in 124 matches with the Dynamo. In 2013 he was named Dynamo Defender of the Year and matched a club record with 44 appearances across all competitions.
He started 11 playoff matches for Houston, including the 2012 MLS Cup Final.
