Goalkeeper Joe Willis finally has returned to the Dynamo, more than two weeks after the start of preseason camp.
The Dynamo on Wednesday announced that they have signed Willis to a new contract - a move that was likely ever since his previous deal expired following the 2017 season.
With seven years in MLS, Willis was one season away from qualifying for free agency. As a result, the Dynamo were the only team in the league he could negotiate with.
The leverage went both ways. Had the Dynamo not re-signed Willis, they would have gone into the season with only one goalkeeper (Chris Seitz) on the roster who has MLS experience.
