The Houston Dynamo halted a three-game losing streak, defeating New York Red Bulls 4-0 at BBVA Stadium on Wednesday.
Mauro Manotas struck for his seventh goal of the season shortly before halftime. Midfielder Tomas Martinez and forward Alberth Elis added three more in the second half to put away the Eastern Conference foe.
Unable to capitalize on a handful of promising opportunities throughout the first 30 minutes of the match, Houston broke through in the 39th minute.
In Houston’s previous two games, Manotas, who entered the game as the team’s leading scorer, had come off of the bench as coach Wilmer Cabrera gradually got his players back from personal obligations and international competition.
