Dynamo draft goalkeeper and Katy native Michael Nelson

The Dynamo opened Friday's MLS SuperDraft by filling a position of massive need.

With the No. 20 overall pick, the Dynamo took SMU goalkeeper and Seven Lakes graduate Michael Nelson.

Nelson started 44 games in three seasons at SMU and had a career goals allowed average of 0.89. His career save percentage was .801.

It was not a surprise for the Dynamo to pick a goalkeeper. They currently have only one on their roster for 2018 after signing free agent Chris Seitz. They're still negotiating with Joe Willis, to whom they offered a contract after the 2017 season.
