Houston Dynamo defender George Malki is expected to be out for the remainder of the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee.
The injury occurred during practice on Wednesday, March 15. The 24-year-old defender will undergo reconstructive surgery this Friday. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Tim Sittler, the team’s orthopedic surgeon, at the Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital.
“We are disappointed for George with the news of his recent injury,” said Dynamo Vice-president and General Manager Matt Jordan. “We are confident that with his work ethic and attitude he’ll make a full recovery to return to the field stronger than ever.
